FHWA-NHI-130056, Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers

We’re excited to welcome you to your upcoming in-person National Highway Institute (NHI) class at Pennoni’s Training Center in Mechanicsburg, PA!

NHI has confirmed your participation in Course: FHWA-NHI-130056, Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers.

Please note that this course registration, accessed via this webpage and payment link, is only for administrative fees. This additional administrative fee of $475 is payable to the host organization, Pennoni, to cover the cost of the facility and administrative service expenses. Course cost of $1,475 is separate and payable through FHWA/NHI.

If the noted administrative fees are not acceptable, you have an option to cancel the course with NHI or sign up for the course with other hosting organization.

Prerequisite Course Completion Certificate Requirement:

• Prerequisite Courses:
• FHWA-NHI-130101: Introduction to Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges; OR
• FHWA-NHI-130101A: Prerequisite Assessment for Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
• The prerequisite course must be completed within 2 years of the session start date

All participants are to provide the host (jwarren@pennoni.com) with a copy of the pre-requisite certificate of completion for 130101 OR 130101A. The test scores printout alone from NHI do not suffice for the official pre-req certificate.  Please provide the digital certificate of completion no later than October 30, 2026.

Here is how to access the pre-req course:

1. This is the link: nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/Resources/BlackboardCourses.aspx 
2. Then click on the Click Here to register for Blackboard
3. Once in the GeniusSIS site (this is where Blackboard goes to the online courses), click in the upper right there is a rectangle with lines. 
4. Search 130101 and you can enroll and take the course.  Note: Students will also have to register for the “130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers” Course in Blackboard once the course is open in Blackboard.

Professional Engineer License Requirement:

All participants are to provide the host (jwarren@pennoni.com) with a copy of the PE documentation. Please provide the documentation no later than October 30, 2026.

• Should list: PE Board State Name, Licensee Name and Expiration Date

• Active PE wallet card
